The disciplines of biology 和 chemistry are undergoing remarkable 和 converging transformations. 为了应对这些新的发展, Harvey Mudd College has established a unique opportunity for undergraduate students at the interface of biology 和 chemistry.

They will have the background to appreciate the biological context of their research questions 和 they will have mastered the chemistry fundamentals that underlie the 属性 和 reactions of biomolecules. These successful students will be able to make connections 和 have insights that are difficult to obtain without a thorough training in both chemistry 和 biology. The program in chemistry 和 biology will capture the imaginations of talented Harvey Mudd students 和 reinforce their abilities to think across disciplines.
Many schools have used the terms "生物化学" or "biological chemistry" 和 some of the newer programs call themselves "chemical biology." But since the boundaries between chemistry 和 biology as separate disciplines are rapidly dissolving, 和 students can choose to steer their studies in many directions, we chose to call it simply the "化学和生物联合专业."
